Richie McCaffery

Two Poems

 Album
For Douglas Dunn

After dinner he showed me
his stamp albums, the fruit
of a life-time of collecting.

Neat rows of fine specimens
with tiny hack-saw edges,
priced in spent currencies.

Though the cursive letters
had long been discarded
the senders and recipients

reached the same address.
He has made the means
of getting there his passion.
