\nNo. We mean flora.

\nNow, who is that in the river?

\n 
\nAll my dead friends waiting

\nfor the moon to get on its hoist.

\nWhat are their names?

\nThe electricians of sleep,
\n 
\nthe humiliated
\n 
\nthe escutcheoned
\n 
\nthe trussed-till-marked

\nthe partly-roofed
\n 
\nthe muddied collective
\n 
\n& my brothers & your brothers also & yours
\n 
\n& their dogs
\n 
\nin the white field of black manure to
\n 
\na tentacular sky getting its yellow dust over

\nour so-called fortress.

\nGetting it onto your necks?
\n 
\nBut yes.
\n 
\n& getting into your scalps?
\n 
\nWhy yes.
\n 
\nYou thought your soul had careened crooked?
\n 
\nWas it that you thought it could be so?
\n 
\n 
\nThat the noise trailed off

\nso this must mark the ending\u2014

\nFrom the messenger girl\u2019s lost routes
\n 
\nto her passage out through the wooden
\n 
\nwoods, the stenographer\u2019s
\n 
\nchild translator to the plastic owl on call
\n 
\nto the legendary child thieves, thieving.
\n 
\n& did the crumbs show the courier
\n 
\nwhere went a friend?
\n 
\nWell, the lightning is open in the ground.

\nThe ground\u2019s song can refract the circus of your blood

\n& you can burn just about anything with

\nneglect & an ignorance of a few basic principles.
