{"id":11491,"date":"2020-07-22T12:19:09","date_gmt":"2020-07-22T11:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.themanchesterreview.co.uk\/?p=11491"},"modified":"2020-07-29T11:53:51","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T10:53:51","slug":"2-poems-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.themanchesterreview.co.uk\/?p=11491","title":{"rendered":"2 Poems"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cut<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the lovely fairies<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">in Sister\u2019s room<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">have blades on their backs<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and lately Lee sucks lemons<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">for their sharps<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">looks for wounds in snow<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">on his morning walk with Mam<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">fantasizes he is sliced like a pear<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">but today the blood smells real<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">he wipes his hands on his trackies<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">dizzy tries to walk not run<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">because he doesn\u2019t want to scare<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and blooming like a cherry tree stumbles out<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">there is a metallic grinding scream<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">when Next Door ignites the hedge trimmer<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the winter sun pierces Lee\u2019s eyes<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">blue sky sawn open<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">in that moment the sky is too big for Lee<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">far too big and empty<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">he wants to find the stars<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">wants a knock on his bedroom door<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">wants to be red for somebody<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h4>The Cousins<\/h4>\n<p>The Cousins are doing their wool work<br \/>\nsitting in their blankets knitting for their<br \/>\nMothers, proud to be loved by their Mothers.<br \/>\nThe Cousins&#8217; faces are slack like emptied<br \/>\nlungs.
