A Travel Bursary for George Mackay Brown

 
 
When they granted him
the means to go
wherever he desired,

he packed
books, foolscap,
two pens, a pipe

and an ounce of shag
in his coat pockets,
and sailed

for the one island
of the Orkneys
he had not seen.
